Dear Members,

We are experiencing our typical sizzling September weather so free yourself
from the tyranny of the stove and  order  this week's "Dinner-To-Go"
instead.   This week we feature Tandoori Chicken made with  Mary's Free
Range Chicken baked in yogurt, served with tomato ginger chutney and
basmati rice, $11.75. Our vegetarian option is Tandoori Vegetables served
with tomato ginger chutney and basmati rice, $9.75.  Please call for the
dessert and soup option.  The "Dinner-To-Go" Order Form is attached.  Feel
free to call, fax or email your order in by Tuesday at 2:00 pm.

Our first "Arts in the Afternoon" for the Fall season will kick off on
Tuesday, September 27th starting at 4:00 pm.  There has been a change of
schedule and we will now be enjoying music of Claude Debussy and Benjamin
Britten.  Join us as we welcome  three extremely talented musicians to our
"stage."  Anna Presler, violin, is the artistic director and violinist of
Left Coast Chamber Ensemble in San Francisco.  Eric Zivian, piano, is a
graduate of the Curtis Institute, the Juillard School and the Yale School
of Music.  Leighton Fong, cello, is a longtime member of the Left Coast
Chamber Ensemble and serves as Principal Cello with the California
Symphony.  Fong has taught at UC Berkeley since 1997 and has been a
frequent coach of student string ensembles featured at the Club.  Please 
invite friends and colleagues to this special event - it is an excellent
time to introduce them to the Club!

Finally - our  first Fall  edition of "Academic Lives" will feature
Professor Christina Romer in a talk titled "A Tale of Two Cities."
Professor Romer will discuss the challenges of both academia and public
service.   Come hear her story of life in both Washington D.C. and Berkeley!
