[BHS Etree] ADMIN: Message from Principal Schweng

Good afternoon BHS Community,

I’m writing to let you know about two things this afternoon:

We had a trash-can fire in the boys bathroom in the G Building, 1st floor that required a full school evacuation for approximately 20-30 minutes around 1:15 today. A staff member extinguished the fire fairly quickly, prior to the arrival of the fire department, but it took some time for the fire department to blow the smoke out of the hallway so that classes could re-enter. As I write this, all students are back in classes for the afternoon.

Also, for informational purposes only, I want you to know that we are aware that there is a political rally scheduled to take place this afternoon in Civic Center Park at 5:00 pm. The organizers are calling it “Emergency Rally - Trump is Not Above the Law.” We have spoken with BPD, and they will be monitoring the rally as they would with any activity in the park. While we do not anticipate this creating a disturbance that will affect our students and facilities, we wanted you to be aware that there may be crowds and police presence in the area in the late afternoon.

Thank you for your time and attention to this message.
