Berkeley High Athletics welcomes back its own!

Anne McMillan as Strength and Conditioning Coach

Jeff Jue as Varsity Head Coach for Boys Tennis

Two exceptional Berkeley High Graduates return to our campus.

Yellowjacket dedication!

Both Anne and Jeff are Berkeley High Graduates with long commitments to
Berkeley High Athletics. We are incredibly lucky to have such talents be a
part of continuing to build Berkeley High's great programs.

Anne McMillan

Berkeley High's state of the art weight room will be overseen by Anne
McMillan. She will be working with BHS teams and coaches, on a limited
schedule, to train on the equipment and develop safe and rigorous programs
both in and out of season. It is an additional benefit that Anne is on
campus as a teacher and able to share some of her talents and time with our
Student Athletes.

Anne grew up in Berkeley and is a Berkeley High grad, class of 1999. She
continued her education at Barnard College, Columbia University and earned a
B.A. in Classics/Latin. She then taught High School Latin until she
recently brought her unique Berkeley-born love of Latin back to Berkeley
high where she currently teaches 4th year Latin.

While Anne was in high school and college she discovered her passion for
movement and physical excellence via dance (Ballet Folklorico, Flamenco,
Ballroom Dancing, African Dance) and outdoor cycling. Her list of hobbies
and interests includes being outdoors - swimming, hiking, climbing, surfing,
camping, cycling in the Berkeley/East Bay hills with her father (a former
national competitive cyclist). When drawn indoors she is doing yoga, acro
yoga, dance, boxing, lifting, as well as writing poetry, reading, cooking
and playing her accordion or flute.

In addition to teaching here at Berkeley High she also teaches group
exercise at Cal Berkeley and in a studio in North Berkeley. Her classes
include core work, high intensity interval training, cycling, kickboxing,
yoga, foam roll and stretch, circuit training, and more! She is a National
Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) Certified Personal Trainer.

Jeffrey Jue

Jeff was born in Berkeley and had his first tennis lesson when he was eight
years old on the old Berkeley High Tennis Courts. He attended Washington
School, Willard, West Campus prior to attending Berkeley High School. Jeff
comes from a long line of Berkeley High Grads and Berkeley tennis players.
His younger brother Jerry Jue was a League Singles Champion and his father
York Jue is in the BHS Hall of Fame and was a Nationally Ranked Senior
Tennis player and played tennis until he was 85.

While at Berkeley High Jeff played Varsity Tennis all 4 years and played the
number 1 position three years in a row. He was League Singles Champion as
well as North Coast Doubles with his partner Rusty Cohn. Jeff continued to
play in College and is the former number 1 player at Cal State East Bay.
His Senior year the team was ranked Number 4 in the Nation in Division II
tennis!

Jeff has his Master's Degree in Health and Physical Education from Saint
Mary's College. He served as a Court Clerk for 33 years for the Alameda
County Superior Court and has taught Tennis for the Peralta Community
College District for 30 years. As a volunteer Jeff has been the Chairman of
fundraising for the BHS Girls and Boys Tennis Teams for the past 11 years
and Chairs the Committee to Bring Back the Tennis Courts at BHS. Jeff is an
active Board Member with the Berkeley Athletic Fund which raises money and
supports BHS Athletics.
