Budget Cuts & Superintendent Search/ Las Reducciónes al Presupuesto & La
Búsqueda Del Superintendente

Good morning, I just wanted to provide a brief update on two important
issues: budget cuts and the superintendent search.

BUDGET CUTS.  Unfortunately, BUSD is facing another year in which we need to
make budget cuts.  For information about the proposed budget cuts, please
attend the District’s second and final Budget Forum on Thursday, April 19,
from 5:30pm to 7:00pm in the City Council Chambers (2134 MLK, 2nd Floor).
The forum will include special guest Jonathan Kaplan, an expert in helping
community members understand school finance and a senior analyst at the
California Budget Project.  The planned budget cut this year is
approximately $3 million based on current information.  These budget forums
are one of the ways the District hopes to engage the community in the budget
process.  Translation can be available upon request.  So please come and ask
questions!

SUPERINTENDENT SEARCH.  You can find updates at

including the Leadership Profile Report that describes what the Board will
be looking for in the applicants that apply.  The Board hopes to select a

superintendente.

LAS REDUCCIÓNES AL PRESUPUESTO. Por desgracia, BUSD se enfrenta a otro año
en el que tenemos que hacer recortes presupuestarios.  Para obtener más
información acerca de la propuesta de las reducciónes al presupuesto, por
favor asista al segundo y último Foro para el Presupuesto que ofrecerá el
Distrito el jueves, 19 de abril de 5:30 pm a 7:00 pm en el Council Chambers
(2134 Martin Luther King, Segundo Piso).  El foro incluirá como invitado
especial a Jonathan Kaplan, un experto en ayudar a los miembros de la
comunidad a entender las finanzas de la escuela y Analista Principal del
“California Budget Project” (Proyecto de Presupuesto California).  Este año
las reducciones propuestas para el presupuesto son de aproximadamente $3
millones sobre la base de información actual.  Estos foros son dos de las
formas en que el distrito espera involucrar a la comunidad en el proceso
