Give your students the opportunity to discover their inner arts advocate with Berkeley Repertory Theatre at our first-ever arts advocacy day on Sunday, February 12!
WHEN: Sunday, February 12, 10:00am
WHERE: The Berkeley Repertory Theatre, Berkeley
This event is designed to train high school students to advocate for arts in their community, and to build the next generation of student leaders in the arts. Our goal is to have 150 Bay Area teens in attendance, and we’d love to get your students involved!
The FREE full-day conference will include:
• Games Compete in teams in an Olympics-style series of interactive games. Win points and get prizes!
• Debate Engage in an interactive debate with your fellow advocates. Share your stories, play devil’s advocate, and learn about the arts issues facing schools today!
• PSAs Each team will storyboard its own PSA with the winning storyboard getting made into a real video! Tell the world why the arts matter to you!
• Ghost Light The day will end with a free ticket to Berkeley Rep’s newest show, Ghost Light! Written by Tony Taccone and directed by Jonathan Moscone, this haunting show conjures an imaginary world based on the historic assassination of Mayor George Moscone.
All students in grades 9 - 12 are welcome to register! Students can sign up individually or in teams of 2 - 4.
Please submit registration forms by February 3, 2012 (downloadable at www.berkeleyrep.org/claimyourarts) via email to teencouncil at berkeleyrep.org or fax to 510 647-2979.
