What is the BHS Development Group and what have we done so far this year?

The Berkeley High School Development Group is the primary fundraising group for BHS, and is the only group that raises funds for the entire school. Years ago, a group of parents realized that if they formed a 501c3 they would not need to send 25% of funds raised to the state PTA organization. We are all parent volunteers, and we raise funds to support BHS. We accept grant applications from teachers, administrators and students; and we generate programs of our own to fund.

So far this fall, we have funded:

Substance Abuse Prevention Program in the Health Center with Ralph Cantor
200$ Classroom teacher grant for every teacher
Afterschool tutoring in every subject for any and all students
Digital Projector for CPA teacher
Vera Casey Teen Parenting Program nutrition
BIHS Summer Bridge program
Graphing Calculators for the Math Department
World AIDS Day Poets/Performance Artists
BHS Jacket Newspaper partial publishing costs

Annual supplies grants to:

College and Career Center
Library
Counseling Center
Special Education
Parent Resource Center
Health Center
Registrar's Office

It's time for our Annual Campaign! Please watch for our Annual Report in the mail in the coming days, and if you can, please give generously. We will be having a small phonathon in coming weeks too, so we look forward to talking with you!
