ADMINISTRATION

 

1. BSEP applications are now available for the fall 2011-2012 school year.
Pick one up in the administration office from Belinda McDaniel, or send an
email request to bmcdaniel at berkeley.k12.ca.us for a digital copy.
Deadline is February 25th. Don't delay, or you will miss out on this grant
opportunity.

 

*2. Winter Ball is this Saturday! Tickets are $35 this week, $5 off with
free lunch, but get this, if you come with five friends, you each pay $25!
How awesome.  Come to WinterBall.tickets are on sale at lunch. You must
have student ID to purchase a ticket.  Any students with three or more
overdue textbooks will not be able to purchase tickets for the Winter
Ball.  Please see Ms. Reed in the textbook room to return books or clear
fines.

 

3. Bake Sale, Bake Sale!  AHA Bake sale!  Monday, February 14th at lunch
on the Senior steps.  Lots of baked goods--come and enjoy.

 

EVENTS

 

*The Berkeley High School PTSA presents a Forum for Parents and Students
"Harassment and Bullying" co-sponsored by the Berkeley High School Safety
Committee and the Gay-Straight Alliance on Wednesday February 16, 2011,
7-9pm in the Berkeley High School Library, Allston Way at Milvia

 

Introductory remarks will be made by the Gay-Straight Alliance and Pamela
Harrison-Small, BUSD Supervisor, Culturally and Linguistically Responsive
Systems.  Presentations will be made by outside speakers:

*	Nina Simone Grotch, Education Director, Anti-Defamation League
(ADL) Central Pacific Region will discuss Harassment and Bullying
*	Dan Siegel, civil rights attorney, former General Counsel for the
Oakland Unified School District, counsel in numerous Title IX cases and
sexual harassment trainer will discuss Sexual Harassment.

 

This parent education event is being developed with the cooperation of
Berkeley High School and BUSD administrators who will hold a Q&A after the
speakers.

The program is very full and will begin promptly at 7:00pm.

 

CLUBS

 

Join the Jazz and Democracy Project at the YMCA/PG&E Teen Center--you
don't need any musical experience or ability.  Jazz musicians will play
for you in class we'll watch DVD's and listen to music. Jazz tells us who
we are as citizens and as a country!

 

SPORTS

 

*1. Boys and Girls crew is holding tryouts!  Anyone interested meet by the
portables Thursday (today) after school or next Wednesday.  No Experience
necessary; just a willingness to try something new.  Hope to see you
there!

 

2. Tryouts started on Monday, February 7th, and continue through this
week.  Come ready to play and bring your completed athletic packet (if not
already turned in).  Tryouts/practices will last approximately 2 hours.
Your coach will give you the details when you arrive.  Further contact:

2. To All aspiring Cheerleaders, Songleaders (Dancers) and Mascots, Pump
it up let's hear it for the upcoming "2011-2012 Cheerleaders, Songleaders
(Dancers) and Mascots!"  Tryouts for all BHS students (new students are
welcome) - the dates for tryouts are March 7-11, 2011. Yell, Go! Fight!
