ADMINISTRATION

*1. Staff Development Day on Monday, October 12.  No school for students.

2. PSAT TEST: The PSAT will be given on Wednesday, October 14 from 8:30-11:30 am.  Deadline for Juniors to register for the test is this Friday, October 9th. See Ms. Reed at lunch or immediately after school to register.  The cost for juniors to take the test is $20.  In order to apply for a fee discount, see the College and Career Counselors. Registrations after the deadline will be put on the waiting list.

This is a mandatory test for all sophomores, and they will automatically be registered.  Sophomores who do not take the test will be marked absent periods 1-3.  Practice booklets will be distributed in English classes this week.

The PSAT is a practice test for the SAT.  Most four-year colleges, including the UCs and Cal States, require that you take either the SAT or the ACT test.  This is a great opportunity to get your first look at this test. The PSAT is a no-stress test.  It is for practice only, so you can relax.  When you receive your scores, you will also get back your test booklet and a list of the correct answers, which will help you learn which areas you need to study for the SAT.

Even if you are not planning to apply to college, take the test anyway and keep all of your options open.  Many students change their minds about their future plans in their senior year or after graduation.
