STUDENT DAILY BULLETIN

*New to the bulletin today

ADMINISTRATION

*1.  Celebrate our freedom to read this week during Banned Book Week! Come to the library to see the display of titles that been challenged in school and public libraries.  Fill out a slip to guess why someone objected to each of these books.  Win a prize!

*2.  Interested in doing some real science?  Join the Ecology project in doing sea turtle research and forest restoration in Costa Rica.  Contact Mr. Wolkenfeld in G212 if interested, or send an email to gwolkenfeld at berkeley.k12.ca.us.  Anticipated dates are 6/18 - 7/02/09.

3.  Late start this Wednesday, October 1st.  Students come to school at 10:00 am.

4.  Mathworks Training today (Tuesday, September 30th in H115 from 3:30 – 4:30 pm).  Come tutor at Willard Middle School and receive tutoring and community service credits for college.  Contact: WillardmathWorks at gmail.com.

CLUBS

*1.  Hey all you APIC members thanks for a successful meeting last week, we had a great turnout!  Make sure to come back this Thursday in room C333.  It's gonna be awesome.

*2.  Mr. Angell will begin a lunch-time “History Club” discussion group for all students, AP and non-AP, interested in US History.  Come today, Tuesday lunch to C310, and let's talk about how our history relates to current events.

*3.  Come join the Latino Graduation : First meeting will be this Wednesday in Conference room B at 3:30 pm.

*4.  Earphone English will meet as usual on Wednesday at lunch in C124, even though it is a late start day.

2.  SCHOLARSHIPS

California Museum Dreamers' Challenge -- Submit an essay, video, audio or artwork to tell us how your dream will leave a lasting mark on the state, nation and the world.  Must be a senior and California resident.  Award - $5,000 cash and attend the California Hall of Fame Events.  Application available in D221 and at www.CaliforniaMuseum.org.  Received deadline:  October 10.

Horatio Alger Association -- Open to graduating seniors, planning to pursue a bachelor's degree, (but may start at a community college), with family income no more than $50,000, involved in co-curricular and community activities, with a minimum GPA of 2.0, who is a US citizen. Apply online at www.horatioalger.org/scholarships.  Scholarships from $2,000-20,000.  Deadline:  October 30.

EVENTS

1.  Want to show off your moves and represent the class of 2010 while doing it?  October 24th will be the auditions for class rally dances, so get your groups together and get ready to dance it off and show the school what you've got!

2.  Artists: Want to show off your artistic skill?  If so, we are accepting Junior class rally T-shirt designs.  Submit your designs ASAP to D148.  The winner gets a free T-shirt.
