STUDENT DAILY BULLETIN

Administration
*1. Wednesday, September 12th is the first LATE START Wednesday.
Remember school begins at 10:00am for students.
*2. The Good morning Café opens this Monday, September 10. Come on by
H106 during 1st and 2nd period for your mid-morning cravings.
Teachers can request coffee delivery. We serve cinnamon rolls, bagels,
hot chocolate, muffins, fruit snacks and more.
3. Students and Staff- Make-up photo IDs will take place September 5
and September 18. The times for both dates are 2:30-5:30 p.m. Don't
miss these dates! Look for the portable between the gym and the G
building.
4. Mathworks needs you! Got community service, tutoring credits and
be a leader. Come tutor at Willard, Tuesdays 3-4:30pm, starting
October 1. Contact Mark Lee at Willardmathworks at gmail.com.
5. Algebra I and Geometry I math tutorial begins Tuesday, September
11th, and get an early start with Math on Tuesdays and Thursdays from
3:15 -4:30 pm in room H109. Don't wait!
*6. If you were enrolled in Mr. Miller's English classes last year,
you may pick up your work folders on Monday and Friday, after school
from 3:20 4:25pm, for the next two weeks.
*7. Proctors needed: Miller 2nd period!
Clubs
*1. Ping pong club is back. It will be held at lunch on Tuesday and
Fridays in the Ping pong room. The second floor of the old gym.
Don't miss the first meeting, Tuesday, September 11th.
2. Interested in giving back your community by participating in
exciting events such as the Shoreline Clean-up, the Tibetan Aid
Project and the Holiday meal? Want to finish off those math tutoring
hours? Come to Key Club to do community service, meet friends, win
prizes, or just eat lunch. We meet every Monday at lunch in C220,
starting September 10th.
3. Please re-register your club for the 07-08 school year. Any
previous registration forms are void. You get the form at the Student
Activities office.
*4. The first Gay Straight Alliance meeting is this Wednesday,
September 12, 2007 at lunch in Ms. Murphy's room G216. Come enjoy
food, friends, and a good time.
5. Go to France for 9 days! Meet new people and see new places. For
more information, go to room C102 at lunch this Thursday or Friday.

information on how you can escape to France.
6. PASSHEN! (Peers Advocating Safety and Sexual Health education now!)
is recruiting new peer educators for the 2007-2008 school year. Get
paid and get class credit while educating your BHS peers! Pick up
applications in H105 (Health Center). All applications are due
September 13 by 3 p.m.
Sports
*1. Attention all girls: Open gym basketball is Tuesday and Thursday
in the jacket Gym from 4-6 pm.
*2. Students interested in Berkeley High Crew should plan on attending
an informational meeting for new and returning rowers on Wednesday,
September 12th at 4:15 pm at the BHS stadium bleachers. BHS crew has
men's and women's teams and no previous rowing experience is required.

3. Have you ever wanted to learn to be a sports announcer? Interested
in being the voice above the crowd? BHS Athletics is looking for
dedicated and mature sports announcers who want to learn by doing it.
Training starts with this week's home football games. If you're
interested, sign up this week on the Athletics office door and meet in
the turf press box at 3:30 pm on Thursday.
4. All students interested in running cross country come to practice
at 4:30 p.m at the BHS track or see Coach Goodrich in H307.
Senior / Junior Section
1. SAT/ACT TEST DATES- Monday, September 10 is the regular
registration deadline for the October 6 SAT and SAT subject tests.
Friday, September 21 is the regular registration deadline for the
October 27 ACT test. Fee waivers for low income students are
available in D221.
2. Scholarships- Sinkler Miller Medical Association scholarship- open
to seniors who are SF Bay Area residents with a minimum cumulative GPA
of 3.0 who have financial need. 12 scholarships of $1,000 - $1,500
will be awarded. Deadline: September 20. Applications available in
D221.
3. Good Tidings Community Service Scholarship - open to seniors who
live in the SF Bay Area, have participated in community service and
have financial need. Scholarships range from $2,500 to $5,000.
Deadline is November 9th. Applications available in D221.
4. Ron Brown scholarship Program - open top black or African American
seniors who have shown leadership, commitment to public service and a
desire to make a difference, have financial need and a US citizen or
permanent resident. Scholarship is for $10,000 per year for four
years. The deadline is November 1 to be eligible for other
scholarships through the Ron Brown program or January 9, 2008 for the
Ron Brown Scholarship only. Applications available in D221.
Events / Performances
1. Zoo Careers Night, Friday, September 21, 5:30 9:30 pm at the
Oakland Zoo. Find out firsthand what working in a zoo is like and
find out how you can get there yourself. The program is designed for
teenagers (ages 12-19). Adults may attend, but only to accompany or
chaperone their teens. A chaperone is not required for teens to
attend. Cost: $15 teenagers; $7 adults; For more information,
