Last week, we mailed home two letters: one to BUSD middle school
parents and one to private school principals asking them to pass
important information on to their Berkeley 8th grade students. In
each letter there were some confusing statements. We are sending out
second letters to both groups. Meanwhile, below is the finalized and
confirmed dates of upcoming events for all 8th grade families. Please
pass these on to other 8th grade parents who may not be on this etree.
1. Incoming 9th Graders Information Night
Tuesday (not Thursday), February 27, 2007 from 7 to 9 p.m.
Community Theater at Berkeley High School
This event is very important for ALL FAMILIES (public, private,
parents/guardians, students)
2. Middle School Curriculum Nights for BUSD parents
Tuesday, March 6, 7 to 8:30 p.m. at King Middle School
Wednesday, March 7, 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Willard Middle School
Thursday, March 15, 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Longfellow Middle School
Students do not attend these night meetings because they will meet
with the Berkeley High School counselors during the school day shortly
after these evening meetings for parents.
3. Enrollment in the Berkeley Unified School District for 2007-2008:
private school parents/guardians may begin the enrollment process at
the BUSD Admissions office on March 19, 2007. Public school children
are automatically enrolled. Following enrollment in the district,
private school parents/guardians must register their child at Berkeley
High School. This registration for the Fall 2007 begins on March 21.
Public school children are automatically registered at Berkeley High.
4. Program/Lottery and Course Selection for Private School Families
(parents/guardians and students)
Tuesday, March 27 (Student last names beginning A-L) or on
Wednesday (not Tuesday), April 18 (last names M-Z)
Both nights will start promptly at 7 pm in the BHS library.
Private and public school famlies will receive the same information.
All 8th grade students (public and private) who submit their course
selection and preferences by April 18 will be processed at the SAME
time. If you have any questions please contact Volunteer Coordinator
