The Board of the Berkeley High Development Group held its monthly
meeting Monday, February 6 to consider requests for funds. Awards
made at this meeting included funding of these proposals:
1. Amanda Green (English Department)-- books; and
2. William Bove (School Psychologist)--expenses for Young Men's
Group
The Berkeley High School Development Group is an independent,
non-profit, IRS recognized 501 (c)(3) corporation. The Development
Group raises funds to help make Berkeley High the best it can be. It
provides grants to programs and projects that need funding and also
holds restricted funds for departments and programs throughout the
school.
These are a few of the projects the Development Group has provided
funds for so far this academic year:
* Ilene Abrams and Teri Goodman (Counseling Department):
Funding for College trip program:
* Academic Counseling, Parent Resources, and College and Career
centers: discretionary funds for immediate student needs
* Josephine Balakrishnan: Forensic Debate Club: for student
fees for tournaments.
* Rory Bled: to support a day-long in-service workshop for BHS
math teachers
* Community Alliance for Learning (The WriterCoach Connection),
for the Writers' Cafe and Coach training
* Aaron Glimme, (Science department): Classroom Response
system-- a class set of H-ITT classroom response remotes.
* Janet Huseby (College and Career Center): to publish the
Berkeley High 2006 Book of College Essays.
* Marisita Jarvis and Jeannine Villasenor: to support AP
Pathways Tutoring
* Jordan Winer and Corinne Eno (Drama Department): to help
fund the salary of a costume director
* Glenn Wolkenfeld (Science Department): Macromedia Studio 8
software
