Administration

1.	Please note: There is NO LATE START THIS WEDNESDAY-Students go to 
school on the regular schedule.

2.	Shared Governance has been moved to October 11th, 4:30 -6:00 pm.

3.	All students interested in Homecoming Royalty make sure to turn in 
your royalty applications this Thursday, October 6th.  Place it in Mrs.
McKnight-Johnson’s box in the mailroom.  If you would like to run for 
royalty, you can still pick up an application at the main office in the 
D Building.

4.	BSEP meeting has been moved to October 20th; 4:30 -6:00 pm.

5.	CSF participants: Remember applications are available now in the SLC 
and are due this Friday.

6.	The City of Berkeley Youth Works program is currently giving out 
applications for after-school jobs at 1947 Center St.  8-5 pm.  Thanks.

7.	JOB OPPORTUNITY: Work in an insurance office.  Requires accurate 
filing, copying, scanning, etc.  Five to ten hours per week.  Pay $9 
per hour.  Contact Cynthia Blumhart at 510-848-2132.

8.	Hey Freshman:  Are you interested in Student Government?  Do you 
want to be the president of your class?  Pick up an application for 
leadership at the main office and return it by October 7th to the 
leadership box.

Clubs
1.	Progressive Club is today at lunch in A105!  Chips and snacks will 
be provided so come find out what you can do to defend your rights.

2.	Achtung! Achtung!  The German Film Club will show RUN LOLA RUN in 
C115 today.  Come and eat your lunch while watching Lola run through 
Berlin. This is an ongoing event.   Everybody is welcome.

3.	Come out and play some pick up Ultimate Frisbee after school on 
Mondays and Wednesdays on the softball field.  See ya there!

4.	 BHS Mountain Bike Team meeting:  Interested in joining the Mountain 
Bike team?  If so, please come to one of the following meetings to 
learn about the team and the upcoming season:  Thursday, October 13th 
at lunch in room H301.

5.	Anyone interested in going to Europe this summer?  Come to an 
informational meeting in  C315 about educational tours and trips to 
Europe.

6.	Are you interested in helping the environment?  Come to the 
Environmental Club in room G209 on Thursday at lunch.  Snacks will be 
provided.  Everyone is welcome.

7.	Opera Club!  If you are interested in getting incredibly cheap ($30) 
tickets to the SF Opera and seeing world class performances, check 
this.
We have spaces for you to attend the Italian Girl in Algiers by 
Giachino Rossini on September 30th and Doctor Atomic by John Adams on 
October 5th. See Rick Ayers in C324 for questions.

8.	Hey Best Buddies @BHS.  This week we are having our meeting in the 
cafeteria at lunch on Wednesday.  See you there.

9.	Earphone English has moved to Wednesday.  Come to C116 at lunch to 
get a new audio book, exchange the ones you have, or to make special 
requests and get recommendations.

10.	The SPCA needs your help!  Local Shelters are caring for as large 
number of dogs and cats that were rescued after the hurricanes.  You 
can
help by donating blankets, towels, sheets and pet toys.  Look for 
donation boxes near the office in the d-bldg.

Sports
1.  Neff will be on campus selling letter jackets – red with cream 
sleeves and black with black sleeves on Tuesday, October 11 outside the 
athletic office.  You must be prepared to place your order, including a 
check made out to the Neff Company.  Attached is a price list for the 
jacket.  If you have questions, contact Kristin Glenchur, AD 644-8723.

Senior / Junior Section
1.	Seniors the deadline for Senior Portraits is Saturday, October 8th. 
ABC Harrell can be contacted at 510-655-2099 to make an appointment.  
If you don’t meet this deadline you will not be in the yearbook.

2.	ESSAY Writing workshop- Sign up in D221.

3.	More PSAT information:  If you think your family income qualifies 
you for a fee waiver for the PSAT, please see Ms. Abrams in the 
College/ Career Center for documentation.  Then bring the paperwork to 
the ticket window on Allston Way during lunch or after school to 4 p.m. 
  and for you
the test will cost nothing.  The PSAT will be given October 15th, 
Saturday.  Students should report to the garden area between the 
Donahue Gym and the C building at 8:30 a.m.  Bring your receipt, your 
photo ID, a calculator and several number 2 pencils.

4.	Seniors:  Come pick up your senior polls in room H102 during 7th 
period only, October 3rd through the 7th.  You must have an ID to pick 
up and turn in your poll sheet.

5.	Applications for poll workers for the special election on November 
8th are now available.  Pick up an application in the main office and 
return it to Mrs. McKnight-Johnson’s mailbox by October 11th.

6.	Seniors: Please bring your baby pictures and summer weekend pictures 
to the yearbook office in H102. Bring pictures in a self addressed and 
stamped envelope.

7.	Seniors : College Representative visits are starting.  The complete 
September lists are available in D221.

Events/ Performance

SALES
1.	BHS Yearbooks go on sale October 3rd after school and at lunch in 
H102. They will be sold from October 3- 14th.  The price of the book 
will be $65.  Cash, Checks and money orders.  Please make checks and 
money orders payable to Berkeley High Yearbook.
