The final BHS PTSA general meeting of the year will be held this coming
Tuesday, May 18 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the student union/food court
area of the new building. All current BHS parents and students and entering
freshman class parents and students are invited. There will be a lot going
on.

First will be election of officers for the 2004/2005 school year. Details
follow below.

Second, Mary Hurlburt of the BSEP district office will give us an update on
where the matter of a new BSEP measure stands. Mary Reiter, chair of the BHS
BSEP committee and one of our reps to the Policy & Oversight Committee will
be on hand as well. This is a crucial issue for everyone interested in the
well being of Berkeley public schools. The school board has until July to
make a decision about placing a measure on the November 2004 ballot.

Third, one of the teachers working to develope a Visual and Performing Arts
small school at BHS for the 2005/2006 school year will talk to us about that
effort.

We'll end the formal meeting with a section called Parents ask Parents.
Entering ninth grade parents (or students) will have an opportunity to ask
current parents (or students) questions about Berkeley High. Afterwards
assorted desserts will be served.

The following persons have been nominated to serve on the board next year:
President, Barbara Coleman; Exec. Vice President, Marilyn Boucher;
Secretary, Tonya Tyree; Treasurer, Matt Wong; Historian, Janet Huseby; Vice
Presidents: Zach Hobesh, Robert Reynolds, Alex Sicular, Pajen Thrapa, and
Margaret Walkover. Randi Roberts, who had been nominated for Auditor has
asked that her name be withdrawn so that she can work on other projects. The
committee's new nominee for Auditor and a sixth Vice President nominee will
be announced at the meeting. Additional nominations may be made from the
floor.
