<DIV><FONT size=2>The final BHS PTSA general meeting of the year will be held
this coming Tuesday, May 18 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the student
union/food court area of the new building. All current BHS parents and
students and entering freshman class parents and students are invited.
There will be a lot going on.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2>First will be election of officers for the 2004/2005 school
year. Details follow below. </FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2>Second, Mary Hurlburt of the BSEP district office will give us
an update on where the matter of a new BSEP measure stands. Mary Reiter, chair
of the BHS BSEP committee and one of our reps to the Policy & Oversight
Committee will be on hand as well. This is a crucial issue for everyone
interested in the well being of Berkeley public schools. The school board has
until July to make a decision about placing a measure on the November 2004
ballot. </FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2>Third, one of the teachers working to develope a Visual and
Performing Arts small school at BHS for the 2005/2006 school year will talk to
us about that effort.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2>We'll end the formal meeting with a section called Parents ask
Parents. Entering ninth grade parents (or students) will have an
opportunity to ask current parents (or students) questions about Berkeley High.
Afterwards assorted desserts will be served.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2>The following persons have been nominated to serve on the
board next year: President, Barbara Coleman; Exec. Vice President, Marilyn
Boucher; Secretary, Tonya Tyree; Treasurer, Matt Wong; Historian, Janet
Huseby; Vice Presidents: Zach Hobesh, Robert Reynolds, Alex Sicular, Pajen
Thrapa, and Margaret Walkover. Randi Roberts, who had been nominated for Auditor
has asked that her name be withdrawn so that she can work on other
projects. The committee's new nominee for Auditor and a sixth Vice President
nominee will be announced at the meeting. Additional nominations may be made
