*Welcome Back Yellowjackets!*

The students are back in classes and hundreds of student athletes are
already back in action on the field, in the pool, on the track and in the
gym.

That means it is time to join the Berkeley High Booster Club

2023-2024 school year! All Booster Club members play an important role in
supporting Berkeley High Athletics by providing funds for coach stipends,
equipment, gear, uniforms, and other tools needed to support over 50 teams
and 1200 student athletes.


As a bonus, Booster Club members can receive free admission to BHS home
games across all sports all year and a car magnet to show your Yellowjacket
pride everywhere you go.

This year, we are particularly excited to announce the *return of a
program-wide Strength and Conditioning Coach funded by your donations* to
the Berkeley Athletic Fund.

*Curtis Tunson comes to BHS after more than 15 years of experience as an
expert in the field of sports performance. He’s served as a Certified
Strength and Conditioning Specialist, as well as a Sport & Performance
Psychology expert to athletes across all stages of the competitive
spectrum. His blended approach to athlete development uniquely meshes well
with the demands of the high school student-athlete and helps to set apart
Curtis and those he works with from the competition. While evidence-based
practices of performance enhancement are pivotal in his approach, his
belief is that the real growth stems from empowering his athletes by
fostering a healthy support system with the student-athlete, and their
coaches in order to maintain consistent opportunities for the
student-athlete’s development. Originally from Denver, although he and his
wife have called Oakland home for almost 12 years. When Curtis is not in
the weight room or at a BHS game cheering on one of our teams, he’s usually
on some kind of outdoor adventure with his family.*

Curtis is already working with many of the teams and coaches and will
provide ALL student athletes proper strength and conditioning training
throughout the year. Keeping him around is 100% dependent on enough
athletics supporters like you joining the Booster Club to provide high
quality training to our student athletes.
