Latina Youth Leadership Conference

The Students Rising Above Rising Stars Program is for High School Juniors
graduating in Spring 2024*.* SRA empowers students facing systemic barriers

students will receive mentoring support, financial assistance, and college
and career guidance. The goal of the Rising Stars Program is to provide
students with the individualized support they need to be successful. The

Spring Engineering Education Days (SEEDs)

The SEEDs program provides current high school juniors with a unique
opportunity to begin exploring engineering. Participants join Santa Clara
University School of Engineering on three Sundays in April (16, 23 & 30,

to various engineering disciplines. Topics will include: Bioengineering,
Civil, Environmental and Sustainable Engineering, Computer Science and
Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, General Engineering, and
Mechanical Engineering. All workshops are introductory in nature and will
include a mixture of lecture presentations and hands-on experiences

Your student has applied to college! What should they be doing now?
1. Signing up for campus portals as necessary (information shared in
their email). Save usernames and passwords and check the portal regularly.
2. Make sure you’ve completed FAFSA or CADAA and maybe CSS Profile
(private schools) to keep your financing options open. If you don’t want to
complete the FAFSA please fill out this Opt out Form

3. Keep working hard in school. Students are conditionally accepted and

will likely want to share that with schools if prompted or waitlisted.

As a way to support our student community, the BHS counselors have
partnered with Sutter Health Bereavement Counselors who will be coming to
campus and offering a support group that is focused on coping with grief.
The group will be meeting on Mondays at 9am in D-218 for the entire school
year.
