Dear Students,
Happy New Year!
Your administration team would like to take this opportunity to share a few
important reminders with you. First, we wish to acknowledge that the
pandemic has been tough on everyone and especially students. You are all
pushing through and trying your very best every day, and you are choosing
school as your safe place. We are proud of your resiliency! Please keep
up the good work!
The transition back has not been easy for everyone. We recognize that now
more than ever, it is important to discuss coping skills and other
strategies and spaces where students can continue to feel safe while at
school as well as have an equitable opportunity to reintegrate with your
school community.
We want to create more opportunities so that you can increase your ability
to:
-
Attend classes (physically and emotionally) more regularly
-
Have positive relationships with peers and staff
-
Positively participate in school activities
-
Be able to manage your time and the stressors of being in high school
-
Know how to access services in order to remain on track to graduate
-
Experience an overall positive experience at Berkeley High
It is our observation that some of you are still struggling to reintegrate
with school. We want to remind you that the following behaviors are not
school-appropriate and exhibiting these behaviors will result in
consequences (natural or school/district-wide):
-
Use of controlled substances
<https://med.stanford.edu/content/dam/sm/tobaccopreventiontoolkit/documents/school-policy/Tobacco%20Laws.pdf>
while on campus (Board Policy/Administrative Regulation

)
-
Wandering the campus for extended periods during class time
-
Leaving the classroom without permission (taking the classroom pass
without consent)
-
Large gatherings in the restrooms (you are preventing us from regularly
maintaining clean restrooms)
-
More than 1 student in a restroom stall - this is both unacceptable and
unsanitary
-
Refusing to follow simple instructions and redirections (comply when
asked to identify yourself or return to class)
-
Use of cell phones during instructional time and even violating our board
policy

on proper use of technology
In the coming days and weeks, please lookout for information on how to gain
access to support and services to guarantee your success in school. This
information will include surveys and list of personnel and locations of
support and services. In the meantime, please feel free to contact your
guidance counselor, intervention counselor, an administrator, OCI (C210),
or the Restorative Justice Office (H104) should you need any support.

Estimados estudiantes,
Feliz Ano Nuevo!

Administrativo

)
-
