[BHS Etree] ADMIN: Plan If Emergency Evacuation During Final Exams

Hello BHS Students and Families,

We hope you all had a restful weekend.

*Please read this message carefully as it details a plan for adjustments to
the Final Exam Week Schedule if necessary. *

This year, we've had several alarms go off that required evacuations to the
football and softball fields. While none were in response to real
emergencies, please remember that we must always evacuate when the alarm
goes off.

With these events in mind, we are putting forward the following plan for
Finals Week. We believe it's important to have a plan in place in the event
of any real or non-emergency evacuation during finals week so that we
ensure students and staff have adequate time to complete summative
assessments. Our goal is to be safe *and *support students.

*In the event of an alarm that triggers an evacuation during a Final Exam
block, we will monitor the amount of time it takes for our students and
staff to evacuate and return to class after the "all clear," and quickly
message all staff and students the updated End Time for that given Final
Exam block and the rest of the school day.* We are not adding “extra” time
to a final exam or making any final exam longer, but rather making sure to
follow all necessary safety procedures during an evacuation *and *making
sure that our students still receive the planned alloted time for their
final exams.

*All students are expected to return to their classroom after an evacuation
unless instructed to do otherwise.* If students do not return, they might
miss out on final exam material and grading.

During Final Exams, administrators, safety officers, and parent volunteers
will be present in hallways, ensuring that students are in classrooms and
that there are no major disruptions.

Este año, se dispararon varias alarmas que requirieron evacuaciones a los
campos de fútbol y sóftbol. Si bien ninguno fue en respuesta a emergencias
reales, recuerde que siempre debemos evacuar cuando suene la alarma.

Con estos eventos en mente, estamos presentando el siguiente plan para la
Semana de las Finales. Creemos que es importante tener un plan establecido
en caso de cualquier evacuación real o que no sea de emergencia durante la
semana de exámenes finales para asegurarnos de que los estudiantes y el
personal tengan el tiempo suficiente para completar las evaluaciones
acumulativas. Nuestro objetivo es estar seguros y apoyar a los estudiantes.

*En el caso de una alarma que active una evacuación durante un bloque de
Examen final, monitorearemos la cantidad de tiempo que tardan nuestros
estudiantes y el personal en evacuar y regresar a clase después de que
"todo despejado", y enviaremos un mensaje rápido a todo el personal y los
estudiantes la hora de finalización actualizada para ese bloque de Examen
final dado y el resto del día escolar.* No estamos agregando tiempo “extra”
a un examen final ni alargando ningún examen final, sino más bien
asegurándonos de seguir todos los procedimientos de seguridad necesarios
durante una evacuación y asegurándonos de que nuestros estudiantes aún
reciban el tiempo asignado planeado para sus exámenes finales.

*Se espera que todos los estudiantes regresen a su salón de clases después
de una evacuación, a menos que se les indique lo contrario.* Si los
estudiantes no regresan, es posible que se pierdan el material del examen
final y la calificación.

Durante los exámenes finales, los administradores, los oficiales de
seguridad y los padres voluntarios estarán presentes en los pasillos,
asegurando que los estudiantes estén en los salones de clases y que no haya
interrupciones importantes.
