Hello BHS Families,

Please find below a Community Letter regarding a positive COVID-19 test
result for an individual who was at Berkeley High School.

*Student Positive Case Community Letter to Parents*

*This is a generic letter BUSD has committed to send to school site
communities to notify everyone when a positive case has been reported at
the school site. Please keep in mind that if you or your student were
identified as a close contact to the positive individual, you would have
already received a separate phone call/email notification.*

*07/29/2021*

*Dear Parent/Guardian,*

*I am writing to inform you that we were notified of a positive COVID-19
test result for an individual who was at BHS this week. While we have no
reason to believe your student was a close contact* of this individual, we
are notifying you because we have committed to notifying the community any
time there is a positive case at a BUSD site.*

*We have followed all positive case protocols including cleaning all areas
where this individual was this week.*

*There is nothing you need to do at this time. We take the health and
safety of our staff and students very seriously. We hope you take
reassurance in the fact that we do not believe that your student was a
close contact to this individual. Please continue to have your student
practice all COVID-19 safety protocols: Wash hands, wear a face covering
and practice social distancing.*

*Regards,*

*Michelle Agosto District Nurse*

**A close contact is defined as a person who is less than 6 feet from an
infected person for greater than 15 minutes. This can be with or without a
face covering/mask. The 15 minutes do NOT have to be contiguous, that is,
for example, a person could have 10 minutes of contact before lunch and
five minutes of contact after lunch for a total of 15 minutes.*

**If your student was a close contact of this positive individual you would
have already received a separate phone call/email notification indicating
this. *
