Good morning and happy Wednesday, Jackets!

World Language Placement Exam: If you are a transfer student from a high school outside of Berkeley Unified School District and want to be in a language class above level 1, you will need a copy of your transcript when you register.

Middle school students who took two years of the same language, will be placed in Level 2 (formerly 3/4). If you want to SKIP level 2, you must take the placement test to be placed in Level 3.

It is not necessary to take the placement exam if you are enrolling in level one of any language.

This exam will be offered on Saturday, August 1, 2020 from 10AM-noon. The exam will be given on the second floor of the M building - located off Milvia above Channing. You do not need to sign up or register ahead of time, just come on time. Some students finish the exam in 45 minutes and others need 90 minutes, so it is difficult to say how long the exam will last.
Please email coryhenrickson at berkeley.net <mailto:coryhenrickson at berkeley.net> or denisefullerton at berkeley.net <mailto:denisefullerton at berkeley.net> with further questions.

Berkeley Coding Academy Goes Online
Change your life with code this summer

From July 13 - July 31, Berkeley Coding Academy  <http://berkeleycodingacademy.com/>is offering a Machine Learning & AI summer camp for teens. The online program combines the best of the physical classroom with the virtual classroom for an innovative, interactive experience. At the end of the program, all students will build and evaluate Machine Learning models (AI) in Python. No coding experience required.

Here are several factors that make BCA stand out:

1) All teachers are Berkeley credentialed teachers.
2) BCA content opens the gates to the most lucrative positions in the world: Data Scientist, Machine Learning Engineer, AI Developer.
3) The 100% online program includes best classroom practices: live interactive lessons, opportunities to bond with students, individual work and group projects, and awesome teachers.

Berkeley Coding Academy was developed this Spring by BIS Math Teacher Corey Wade. This program is an extension of his work with the AI/Machine Learning for Youth BUSD computer club funded by BHSDG (currently online), along with his research and writing of The Python Workshop, a 4.7 star book on Amazon. The content for Berkeley Coding Academy is the best that Corey has to offer after 20 years in education.
