‘Tis the season to apply for scholarships-

Berkeley Community Scholars staff will be back in the CCC on Thursday,
December 12th at lunch if you missed the first information meeting. Lynn
Walker and Linda Osuorji will tell you about the 4 year mentorship and
grant they award to eligible students.

How to apply for scholarships:

1. Look at each school you are applying to for their scholarship
opportunities, eligibility, requirements, and deadlines.

2.Look at websites and plan ahead for a scholarship. Ask everyone if they
know of scholarships- employers, churches, temples, civic groups,
sororities, fraternities, and more.

3. Save your essays in google docs from college applications which may be
used for the scholarship application.

4. Ask 1-2 people for a strong letter of recommendation. Recommenders may
upload or mail a letter of recommendation directly to the scholarship group.

Here is a spreadsheet with scholarship opportunities in monthly tabs at the
bottom:

We will update the spreadsheet as we receive the scholarship news. Many
have not been changed yet for the new school year. Check the deadlines. Go
to the original websites to verify.
