Dear Universal 9th Grade Families,
We hope this email finds you well in anticipation of this final stretch of
the year. We have an exciting opportunity for all 9th graders and need
your help!!
The Oakland A’s have donated 900 tickets for their baseball game against
the Angels on *Wednesday May 29th, 12:30pm, at the Oakland Coliseum*.
Though the baseball game itself is free, getting there is not. We will
need to take BART from downtown Berkeley to the Coliseum and back (in
staggered waves of students, by hive). We’d also like to make BHS U9
t-shirts so that all the students can wear them the day of the game. The
student fare for BART is just under $3.00 per rider and we’ll also be
covering the fares of 90 adults. All told, we need about $3,000 for
transportation. In addition, we would need $7,200 for all of the t-shirts.
In all, we need a little over $10,000 to fund this trip.
*We are asking all families to either:*
1. Contribute $15 to cover the cost of transportation and the t-shirt.
2. Contribute $30 to cover your child and someone else’s who won’t be
able to pay.
3. Make a larger, tax deductible donation to BHSDG at this time, $50,
$100, $500, or $1000.
*How do I get you the money?*
- Go to www.bhsdg.org and *click on* “donate”. Choose the method that
works for you and make sure you put “U9 to the A’s” in the memo line. If
you give over $15, you will receive a donation letter for your tax
purposes.
- Send a *check* to school made out BHSDG, with “U9 to A’s” in the memo
line.
- Send *cash* to school. If it’s over $15, please make sure to put it
in an envelope with your name and address on it so we can submit anything
over $15 as a donation.
No one will be turned away for lack of funds and we’d like to get everyone
there!! Please email Hasmig Minassian, teacher leader of the U9, with any
questions. HasmigMinassian at berkeley.net

We need 70 Chaperones! Are you interested in chaperoning this trip? We
would need you on Wednesday, May 29th from 10:30-3:30 or 4:30. Please fill
out this google form. <https://forms.gle/gGptRMTL5VF3hoeA9>
Thanks in advance for your help. We won’t be able to pull this off without
you!!
Best,
Hasmig Minassian
