Hello BHS Families,
Is your student currently in Math 1 and interested in taking Advanced Math 2 next year?
If so, they must take the Mathematical Reasoning and Communication Assessment (MRCA) on Wednesday, April 17th. Please arrive by 3:35pm. All you need is a pencil. In order to take the test, please sign up at H113 (list is on the door) starting on Monday, March 25th.
In addition to taking the MRCA, you must earn an "A" in 2nd semester Math 1. Your performance on the MRCA and in Math 1 may give you an opportunity to work towards entering Advanced Math 2 in the fall of 2019. This will require completing some additional coursework beyond Math 1 and taking a short test in late August.
What’s on the assessment? The MRCA consists of a few problems that give you an opportunity to demonstrate your mathematical reasoning skills and your willingness to communicate mathematically.
This placement process is the last entry point into the advanced math sequence at BHS. Students that are placed in Math 2 will not have an opportunity to place into Advanced Math 3.
Thank you.
