Morning Sports Report
Today the badminton team plays at San Leandro High School, and the boys tennis team hosts Alameda at the King Middle School tennis courts.
On Wednesday, sports fans have three opportunities to see Jacket athletes play at home. If you want to see some great track and field events, then head to Jacket Stadium for a meet that features teams from six high schools. Another opportunity is to see the girls varsity softball team take on rival Bishop O'Dowd at the softball field. Finally, the boys varsity baseball team hosts San Leandro at Moellering Field. Admission is free for all events, so come out and support our athletes!
Do you want to be a part of the award-winning BHS Cheerleading Team? We are looking forward to an exciting 2018-2019 school year with our cheer program, and we want you to be a part. Tryouts will be held Monday, April 23 - Friday April 27 in the M Gym from 4:30-7 pm. In order to participate, you must create an account on the FamilyID website, complete the registration and upload a recent and signed physical exam by April 16. All student-athletes must be approved by the Athletic Director in order to try out for a team. Only student-athletes who have completed their online registration (including a valid physical) and grade eligible - based on Quarter 3 grades - will be approved. If you have any questions, please contact the Athletic Director's office at athleticdirector at berkeley.net<mailto:athleticdirector at berkeley.net>
News from the College & Career Center
Seniors who received admission to UC Irvine: Congratulations on your acceptance! Find out about the next steps to matriculation, orientation, housing, schedules, deadlines, and more. Meet a representative from the UC Irvine Office of Undergraduate Admission tomorrow during 5th period in the CCC. Please check with your 5th period teacher before tomorrow so you are not missing any test or important project.
Attention students in all grades: On Thursday, April 12, come to the BHS Library at 4:30pm for a special college planning workshop called ECMC College Night. You'll learn about choosing the right college (traditional four-year college, a community college, or a trade and vocational college), understanding the financial aid process, and scholarship searches. There will be pizza and beverages, and you can register to win one of three $500 scholarships that will be given away at the end of the event. See Brianna Brooks in the CCC for more information.
For All Grades: The College Fair will be held in the Jacket Gym on Sunday, April 29, from 1:00 pm-3:00 pm. College representatives from about 50 colleges, universities, and community colleges will be available to answer your questions and provide informational material. BHS Student ID Required!
For Juniors Only, Class of 2019: Before the College Fair on Sunday, April 29, the Case Studies Workshop or Mock College Admissions Workshop will be held in the C Building classrooms from 10:00 am-11:30 am. It will give students a firsthand understanding of how college admissions officers determine whom they admit. College admissions counselors will go over several sample college applications to a fictional college. They will provide an overview of what college admissions officers look for, how they determine entry, and how to present yourself in your own college applications. This free event requires pre-registration by Friday, April 13, and is open to BHS juniors accompanied by one adult (space is limited).
