Our next BOLD meeting will be Monday April 9 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm in the College Career Center.

Please come join us for a presentation and discussion with Susannah Bell, Special Education Program Manager for BUSD.

About the speaker:
Susannah Bell is currently the Special Education Program Manager for students ages 14-22 in BUSD. For 18 years Susannah worked as an English teacher, special education teacher, and teacher on special assignment at Berkeley High School. In 2016, she stepped into the role of program supervisor for special education at BHS and is currently the Special Education Program Manager. Prior to BHS, Susannah was as an English teacher in Florida for approximately nine years and worked for three years as Coordinator of the Omega Program, which provided services to students at risk of not graduating from high school. Susannah earned a bachelor's degree in English Education from Florida State University, a master's degree in English Literature from San Francisco State, Education Specialist Credential from Dominican University, and Administrator's Credential from CSU East Bay.

Susannah will discuss special ed services available at BHS, including how special ed is structured within BHS and BUSD and resources available to students and families. She will also outline BHS and BUSD's vision for the future of special ed.

BOLD (Berkeley High Families Owning Learning Differences) is a support group for parents of children with Learning Differences. This group, formed in 2013 by Berkeley High parents, meets on the 2nd Monday of the month at Berkeley High in the College and Career Center. BOLD is dedicated to finding ways to support, empower and educate students with learning disabilities and their families by fostering understanding and advocating for effective intervention.
