Mark your Calendar! JazzGirls Day Saturday February 24, 12:300 to 5:00 at Berkeley High School, Florence Schwimley Little Theater, 1930 Allston Way, Berkeley, CA

JazzGirls Day is a daylong series of music workshops including jam sessions and an all group concert lead by professional female musicians for girls aged 10 to 14. The event is free, preregistration is not required. JazzGirls Day is intended for girls who want to play or sing jazz or just to explore playing or singing jazz. There are women role models and girls can fit in and look like everyone else in the room. They can share stories of what it is like to be a minority and how to overcome stereo types and gain a sense of empowerment and assurance that they too can be a jazz musician. These kinds of events help reduce anxiety and show girls what is possible in a welcoming and supportive way. Come out and explore, get inspired, gain confidence and break into the genre!
