Attention Actors!
The BHS Drama department is putting together the acting company for its Fall Play, Tennessee Williams' The Glass Menagerie. Auditions are September 25th, 26th, and 28th. We need great actors of color, as well as great actors, because we are creating one company that can swap in and out of roles as the audience will choose each night, giving every show a slightly different chemistry.

Sign up for an audition slot all this week in the A Building. So whatever your background or experience - if you have the passion, don't throw away your shot!!

Morning Sports Report
Attention all student athletes interested in trying out for boys soccer 2017-18. Our preseason team meeting for players and their families will be held Monday, October 2nd, 2017 at 7:30 pm at Sports Basement on Milvia in Berkeley. Tryouts begin on Monday, November 6th, 2017. To be eligible to try out you must be cleared by the BHS Athletic Department. Please go to www.berkeleyhighsoccer.com<http://www.berkeleyhighsoccer.com> and register at the team site to receive updates and additional information.

The boys basketball program will be running open gyms Tuesdays and Thursdays 4:30-6:30 pm in the Jacket Gym. These open gyms will run through the months of September and October. Please wear athletic gear such as shorts and shoes. Jeans and boots will not be allowed.

PSAT Registration Opens Soon
The PSAT is a test that allows 10th and 11th graders to prepare for the SAT and receive feedback on their academic strengths and weaknesses. Students who score high on the PSAT may also potentially qualify for scholarship money. The PSAT will be offered at BHS on Saturday, October 14.

PSAT registration opens for Juniors on Wednesday, September 20, and for Sophomores on Wednesday, September 27. Registration will remain open until Friday, October 4. Space is limited, so register early. Visit the Jacket Stadium ticket office on registration days during lunch and after school until 4 pm. The cost is $25, paid by cash or check made out to Berkeley High School. Students eligible for free or reduced lunch will receive a discount, but you must first visit the Counseling Center for a form that must be signed by the Cafeteria Manager.

PE Waivers
The Counseling Center is now distributing Fall PE Waiver forms. The first portion of the waiver is due back to the Counseling Center no later than Friday, October 6, 2017. No exceptions will be made for missed deadlines. The Fall waiver will include a cover page with all the information you will need to know. Please make sure you read it.

Here are a few important notes:

-       If you plan to complete your PE waiver at the Downtown Berkeley YMCA, don't forget to enroll in the special YMCA program that handles all of the paperwork so you don't have to complete the waiver form. Contact Jocelyn Leche at 510-665-3234<tel:%28510%29%20665-3234> for more information.

-       If you are on a BHS Athletic Team, you will receive automatic credit for your participation as long as you are academically eligible for the entire season.

-       Juniors and Seniors: Remember - you need 20 credits of PE (which is four semesters) in order to graduate. Make an appointment to meet with your academic counselor for help in making a plan to get the PE credits you need.
