*Tuesday, August 29*
Good Morning Berkeley High! I’m Ms. Schweng, your principal, and I’d like
to welcome you to the 2017-2018 school year. Every day, at the beginning of
second period, we will present the Morning Announcements.
Teachers: this first announcement is for you, and it’s related to taking
attendance. Please enter attendance in Illuminate within the first 10
minutes of the beginning of period 2, including any 2nd period proctors. If
you are unable to do your attendance in Illuminate, please take attendance
on the paper roster and someone will pick it up during 2nd period. These
rosters are for all 10 days, so we will put them back in your mailbox to be
used the next day (if you are still not able to access Illuminate).
Students: Here are a few important schedule announcements.
· If you have submitted a Schedule Change Request, please continue to
follow your schedule as printed until your counselor contacts you via Email
or until a new schedule is delivered to you.
· If your schedule has a class called “Go to D-221”, then during that
period, please report to the Counseling Center so that you can receive an
actual class for that period.
· If you believe there is a mistake with your schedule, you can go to
the Counseling
Center to complete and submit a Schedule Change Request Form.
Counselors will review your request and contact you with a response.
This last announcement is for everyone. Many of you use the gate at Milvia
and Bancroft to enter our campus. Beginning this year, that gate will be
closed once first period begins; all students and staff must enter campus
through the A gate, on Allston Way, once the Bancroft gate is closed. Thank
you for your cooperation as we continue to ensure a safer campus.
Thank you for listening, and have a great day!

*Thursday, August 31*
Good Morning! This is Ms. Bell, Program Manager for Special Education, with
the morning announcements for Thursday, August 31.
Discounted BART tickets will be sold next week in the Parent Resource
Center. The price for a BART orange ticket is $16, but the ticket will have
$32 in value. Students can purchase up to 10 tickets. Come to the Parent
Resource Center, room D-224 on Wednesday, September 6, and Thursday,
September 7, to place your order for discounted BART tickets. Cash only -
no checks accepted. Tickets will arrive within 8-14 days.
Teachers: please continue to enter attendance in Illuminate within the
first 10 minutes of the beginning of period 2, including any 2nd period
proctors. Students who are not on your roster should follow their schedule
as shown in Illuminate.
The College and Career Center (CCC) will be up and running after school
beginning next week on Tuesday, September 5, with tutors and volunteers for
all content areas, college personal statement readers, as well as computer
and printer access. The CCC is located across from library on the second
floor of the D-Building. This comfortable and safe learning space is open
to ALL students from ALL SLCs and ALL grade levels. Starting next week, its
hours of operation will be 3:30-6:00, Monday- Thursday.
Every day at 3:45, administrators and safety officers will clear our
campus. At that time, students can go to the Library (which closes at
4:30), tutoring in the CCC (which starts next week), or off campus. Thank
you, students, for your cooperation.
Students: If you have submitted a Schedule Change Request, please continue
to follow your schedule until your counselor contacts you via Email or
until a new schedule is delivered to you. If you believe there is a mistake
with your schedule, you can go to the Counseling Center to complete and
submit a Schedule Change Request Form.
Counselors will review your request and contact you with a response. Do not
go to a class that is not on your schedule.
Starting soon, after the first 10 min of the period, students outside of
class without a pass risk receiving an on-campus lunch time detention. Your
family will also be contacted. Skipping lunch detention may result in a
family meeting, an after school detention or more serious consequences.
Please remember to have a pass if you are in the halls during class!
Finally, we want to once again acknowledge that the weather will be
unusually hot for the next couple of days. Please stay hydrated.
Thank you for listening, and have a great day!
