*Berkeley High School Bulletin for Friday, September 30, 2016*
Good Morning Berkeley High School, this is Mr. Pasarow with your daily
announcements. At the top of today’s announcements are our awesome
positive shout outs and here we go.
>From the librarians, this shout out goes to all our amazing Independent
Study students. his place wouldn't be the same without you!
Next up is a shoutout from Ms. Sheikh directed to 4th period history,
“Y'all have been working hard to improve our class culture and had a
great class on Wednesday; you listened to each other during microlabs
and everyone got their notes done.” Ms. Sheikh has another shout out for
Buddy Traylor, “Shout-out to Buddy for coming in after school to get
extra work done and help clean up the classroom this week.”
Our final shout out comes from Aniya Williams and is aimed at Liz and
Natalie, “I want to shout out to my little sisters for being a positive
and inspiring influence in my life. Not only have you supported me but
my dreams as well. I hope they enjoy the rest of high school because
they have so much left to learn. Love you bunches”
Wait there is one more from Lulani, and it’s one week old, “Huge thanks
to the football team for coming out to support the varsity volleyball
team last week. It always helps!”

*PE Waivers*
This is a reminder from the Attendance Office that the first portion of
the PE waiver process is due back to the Attendance Office, room D-134,
no later than Friday, October 7. No exceptions will be made for missed
deadlines. The Fall waiver will include a cover page with all the
information you will need to know. Please make sure you read it.

*YouthWorks*
Are you a Berkeley resident? Are you looking for a job? Then YouthWorks
might be for you! YouthWorks operates on a year-round basis providing
7-8 week Winter After-school Employment Programs for youth. The goal of
the YouthWorks program is to provide a variety of employment
opportunities that allow participants the opportunity to build strong
skills. Opportunities are available in the areas of office
administration, information technology, customer service, recreation,
gardening, maintenance, food service, graffiti clean-up and more.
The application period opens on Monday, October 3 and closes October 31.

*GSA!*
The GSA will be selling t-shirts in the C2 Gallery in preparation for
National Coming Out Day. Shirts for LGBT+ students and allies are being
sold, next Monday through Friday at lunch for $15. All proceeds go to
support LGBT + homeless youth. Wear your shirt Tuesday October 11th to
to be "Out & About".

*Open Mic!*
Do you write poetry, sing, or rap? Come sign up for the open mic on
Friday, September 30! To sign up, drop by Mr. V's office (room D-148).
and come support these talented performers at the open mic on Friday
after school in room A-05, which is in the basement of the A building.

PSAT Registration*
Registration continues this week for all 10th and 11th graders
interested in taking the PSAT at Berkeley High on Saturday morning,
October 15. Visit the Jacket Stadium ticket office at lunch or after
school and bring $25, payable either in cash or by check written to
Berkeley High School. Juniors who participate in the free and reduced
lunch program pay $5; verification of participation is required.
Registration ends on Thursday, October 5.

There is no school for students on Monday, October 10. It is a Staff
Development Day.
