The next Berkeley High Safety Committee meeting (Tuesday May 24th from
4:30-6pm in Room H104) will focus on safe transit to and from Berkeley
High. Dave Campbell from Bike East Bay will present about the options
being considered for protected bike lanes on Milvia Street next to
Berkeley High School. https://bikeeastbay.org/milviaSt
The City of Berkeley has adopted the goal of reducing greenhouse gas
emissions (GHGs) to 80% below the year 2000 GHG levels. Many find
bicycle transit to be a good approach to reducing GHGs, and recently
more BHS students and staff have been choosing to ride bicycles to
Berkeley High. Surveys conducted by City of Berkeley consultants suggest
that over 70% of residents would choose to bike more often to their
destinations if streets were made safer for bicycle transit.
Come hear about the Milvia Street Bikeway Campaign and share your
thoughts. Interested students, staff, parents and community members are
encouraged to attend.
The Safety Committee is a sub-committee of the School Site Council and
meets the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month from 4:30-6pm in the H
Building Room H104, the On Campus Intervention (OCI) office.
Thank you,
The Berkeley High School Safety Committee
