BUSD Board Meeting 

April 8, 2015:

 

Closed Session Report, Agenda Approval and Meeting Overview

Board President Judy Appel reported on Closed Session and gave a meeting
overview. President Appel reported that the Board had approved the
appointment of Sam Pasarow as the new principal for Berkeley High School.
Learn more about Mr. Pasarow in the announcement on the home page of the
BUSD website. 

 

The Board approved the agenda, moving Action Item #1, Approval of District
Funds for School Nurse to the Consent Calendar for approval.

 

All items on the Consent Calendar were approved.

Action Items

1. Approval of District Funds for School Nurse

The Board moved this item to the Consent Calendar where it was approved. **

 

2. Sexual Harassment Policy and Administrative Regulation - 5145.7 - Second
Reading

The Board discussed and approved the proposed Interim policy and A.R. for
the second reading and gave direction to staff.

Discussion Items

1. Childhood Development Center Staffing Recommendation and Regulatory
Compliance

The Board discussed staff's recommendation to eliminate one 9.5 hour
classroom. Berkeley Unified is one of the few remaining Districts in the
state that continues to provide a 9.5 hour program, and as a result 44% of
the participants are non-Berkeley  residents. The Board voted to approve
Scenario No 3 and continue the program as it is currently structured.

2. Common Core State Standards Implementation: Three Year Budget
Recommendation

The Board discussed Common Core implementation and the proposed three year
budget, and gave direction to staff.

3. March 2015 Facilities Plan Update

The Board received the annual Facilities Plan Update for information. ** 

 

Note: The Board does not receive a presentation on information items unless
specifically requested by a board member.
