Hello BHS Community,

Thank you so much for all of your help over the weekend with the annual
Holiday Meal. The energy in the building was extremely positive and it was
evident that everyone participating was enjoying themselves. Approximately
320 guests attended the meal. Leftover food was delivered to the Harrison
House. About 4 bins of food are being picked up by the Alameda County Food
Bank. Unclaimed clothing has been brought to a local Goodwill. It is an
understatement to say that this was a team effort to make the Holiday Meal
such a success.

Big thanks go out to Julia Rosenberg, current Chief of Service, who was the
organizer of the meal. At one point the entire Rosenberg family was present
and helping at the event. Thanks also to Tom Watts delivering the food to
the Harrison House as well as leading the serving charge on Saturday. Sydney
Kennedy and his wife were instrumental again in helping to set the menu and
provide their expertise in making a meal out of all the assortment of items
donated. Thank you also to all of the anonymous cooks that prepped the pasta
dishes and the soup cart.

The following businesses contributed to the meal: Andronico's, Trader Joe's,
Cheeseboard, ACME Bread, Emeryville Home Depot, The Local Butcher Shop,
SLIPS, Iris Environmental,

The Dorothy Day House and Las Trampas contributed to the toiletry drive
hosted by the BHS Homeless Support Club.

Local families also gave many prepared turkeys, hams and other awesome
dishes. Thank you to the following families; Patanjo, Goldstein, Blake,
Grubb, Lee, Slemp, Joseph, Galbrath, Clague Maurer, Emert, Chan, Sutte,
Rizza, Boulet, Nogales, Paszty, Pelletier, Ho, Fromson, Duignan, Wilkins,
Giizi, Panicali, Ashe, Osman, Brennan, McKown, Cole, Colborn, Friedman,
Marvin, Mayfield, Hammet, Waters, Pew, Garcia, Parker, Rader, Mermin,
Schack, Aronson, Wayman, Bruno, and a few last minute contributions from
anonymous donors!

Berkeley School held a canned food drive and donated their items to our
meal. Thank you to Jeanne Coyne Song for bringing that over as well as being
a huge help with Friday night cooking.

Great big shout out to Eli Gennis, fifth grader, who collected over 100
coats for the donation station.

AND a big thanks to the nearly 275 volunteers who showed up during the three
shifts. You contributed over 700 hours of total volunteer time. This could
not be done without your help! If you need documentation for service hours,
include Mr. V as the contact person for your CAS hours.

If you can't wait until next year's Holiday Meal, consider looking up the
hours and dates of a local soup kitchen to volunteer. (St. Mark's Episcopal
Church, First Presbyterian Church of Berkeley)

Happy Holidays!!!
