Dear Community Members,



We’re aware there may be a protest of some significant size happening at
Cal this morning given the recent news from New York and Ferguson.


Our staff is aware of this issue and empathizes with the pain felt
throughout our nation. While we do recognize our students' right to free
expression, we cannot legally sanction or encourage them to leave campus.
Their safety during the school day is our first concern. We also need to
make you aware that absences will not be excused for students who chooses
to leave campus.
