Student Daily Bulletins will be sent out through the E-tree twice a week.
For those of you who do not hear announcements where you are during second
period, or if you would like to read them each day, you can find them in the
Daily Bulletin section of Powerschool.

Athletics

1. Want to try out for a Berkeley High School Winter Sport team? Winter
Sports for boys and girls include Basketball, Soccer, and Wrestling. You
must have a completed athletic packet cleared with the Athletic Director's
office prior to tryouts on November 10th. Clearing dates for packets will be
November 3-7 at lunchtime and after school. If you already cleared a packet
for Fall Sports just come by and register during those times. All Athletes
with cleared packets will be given a Gold Ticket with their name and their
sport listed to give the Coach their first day at tryouts.

 

2. Girls interested in playing lacrosse, come out to the captain preseason
practices twice a week. Conditioning practices are from 3:45 to 4:45 pm on
Mondays at the track. Stick work lessons are on Wednesdays from 4:00 to 5:15
pm at the Tim Moellering Field. No experience is necessary and equipment can
be provided on request. Contact Grace Flad, Celia Bolgatz or Isabel Steckle
on their student emails for more information.

 

Clubs

Do you want to make a difference in world healthcare? Watsi directly funds
life changing healthcare procedures in third world countries. Go to their
meeting on Thursday, October 30th at lunch in H211 for more information.

 

Leadership

Buy cookies, get prizes! The Golden Ticket Fundraiser for the Sophomore
class is the first week of November at lunch time, Monday through Friday on
the Senior steps. For each cookie you buy, you will have a chance to win one
of over 100 prizes! Prized include gift cards for Visa, Amazon, Cafe Clem,
Sliver and more! Support Leadership, eat cookies and win prizes at the
Golden Ticket Fundraiser.

 

Yearbooks

Yearbooks are $65 until October 31st, after that they will be $80. Go to
C327 to pay; cash or checks made out to  "Berkeley High Yearbook."

Events

1. Did you know that this month was Down Syndrome Awareness Month? If you
want to learn more about it, check out the Down Syndrome Connection of the
Bay Area's website. BHS Student Eli's mother works there and she can teach
you more about down syndrome. Visit www.dsconnection.org

2. Teachers, please bring your classes to the West Gallery on Friday,
October 31 to see the Day of the Dead exhibit prepared by Berkeley High's
World Languages Department. This Friday, from 9 a.m. until 3:15 pm. Don't
miss this beautiful celebration of life and death!

 

3. The East Bay Media Center will be hosting the Berkeley Film Festival from
October 30th thru November 8th. Over 70 films will be screened, including
films created by BHS students. Student admission is free and more
information can be found at BerkeleyVideoFilmFest.org.

 

4. Amigos de las Americas Info Session this Saturday - Is your student
looking for an outstanding summer program abroad? Are they interested in
youth leadership, community development and cultural exchange? If you were
unable to make the session at BHS, come find out more about the AMIGOS
Summer Program this Saturday, November 1 at 2:30 pm at the Contra Costa
Interfaith Supporting Community Organization (CCISCO), 1000 Macdonald Ave,
Richmond CA 94801. Please contact Rachel at rkoslofsky at amigoslink.org with
