Included in this message you will find information about great events 
and opportunities for students to get more involved in how the school or 
city operates. I hope to do a better job of promoting them before they 
just fade into the ether, but I *need your help*.

*_An Evening with Dolores Huerta!
_*BFT & the Cesar Chavez Commemorative Committee are pleased to be able 
to invite you to a special*"Teacher Teach-In" *for Berkeley teachers 
with eminent labor leader and civil rights activist Delores Huerta on 
Saturday, September 27th from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

in the BHS Library at Berkeley High School.

There will also be a public event with Dolores Huerta and Fred Ross, Jr. 
at 6:30 p.m. in the Little Theater. _
_*Dolores Huerta co-founded the National Farmworkers Association, which 
later became the United Farm Workers (UFW).  In 1965 Huerta directed the 
UFW's national boycott during the Delano grape strike, and her entire 
life has been dedicated to community organizing, non-violent civil 
disobedience and empowering workers and families.  At 82 Ms. Huerta 
continues to work to develop leaders and to advocate for the working 
poor, women and children.

*_South of Bancroft Committee Meeting 9/25_*
Community Meeting to Introduce the Project on Sept. 25th in the CCC. 
Site Committee will be finalized by the Principal by Oct. 7, 2014. The 
role of the Site Committee is to meet with project designers and assist 
the Principal and inform the project design.

*_First Home Football Game 9/26 @ 7PM_*

Come out and support the Yellow Jacket Football team for the first of 
many gatherings of the HIVE at Jacket Stadium! Wear Gold and let's cheer 
on our players! Show up earlier to support the JV team at 4:30pm.


*_ZUMBA Fundraiser 9/19_*
A highly energetic Zumba instructor leads a fun class in the 
Afro-Haitian dance room to benefit the students in transitional housing.
