Berkeley High School Bulletin - Sept. 9, 2014
/Announcements will be sent out through email and on the e-tree twice a
week. For those of you who do not hear the announcements where you are
during second period, or if you would like to read them each day, you
can find them in the Daily Bulletin section of PowerSchool as well/.

LEADERSHIP:*
1. *Performance Opportunity* - Students who would like to perform at a
big game, we are giving you your chance. Student Leadership is seeking
singers and performers for a halftime show this fall. Please stop by the
Leadership Office if you are interested.
2 .*Welcome Class of 2018! *- The Leadership program is a great way to
get involved with Berkeley High. The ASB is looking for creative,
passionate, and dedicated students interested in working together to
improve the climate for their classmates. We are seeking freshmen for
the positions of Class President, Class Vice President, Class Treasurer,
Class Secretary, and Class Deputy. Please go to the Leadership office if
you are interested.

ADMINISTRATION:*
1. *PE Clothes* - PE clothes will be sold before school, after school
and during lunch at the jacket gym locker rooms. Tee shirts - $10 red or
white, shorts - $10 red, sweat pants $15 red. Cash and checks accepted.
Please make checks out to BHS PE.
2. *PE Waivers* -
/Summer Waivers/- Turn in your completed Summer PE Waiver (yellow copy)
to the Attendance Office no later than Friday September 12, 2014 at 4:00 pm.
/Fall Waivers:/ The Attendance Office will be distributing Fall PE
Waiver forms on Monday, September 15, 2014.
A mandatory orientation for freshmen students will be held on Thursday,
September 11, 2014 at 3:45pm in the Little Theater.
If you are interested in the YMCA for your PE waiver, you do not have to
pick up a PE Waiver. The YMCA will take care of your waiver.
3. *Parking -* Do not park in the parking lot unless you have a parking
permit. There is no student parking allowed. Anyone parked so that they
are blocking someone in will be towed. Please be courteous to each other.
4. *Picture Day Make-Up *- Make up photos for students and staff will be
today and September 15th in the East Gallery from 11:00 Am to 4:00 PM.

CLUBS*
1. *Drinks & Snacks *- The Good Morning Cafe is selling inexpensive
drinks and snacks every day during passing period between 1st and 2nd.
It is located in H106.
2. Feeling stressed out? If you want more peace in your life, try
meditation. The BHS *Meditation Club meets every Monday at lunch in H106.*
3. Are you interested in politics? Do you want to improve your debating
and public speaking skills? Come check out *Junior Statesmen of
America*! The first meeting of the year will be held on Tuesday during
lunch on Tuesday, September 9th in Mr. Miller's room, C128. There will
be free pizza from Arnel's. For more info call Leo Meier at 510-316-0532.
4. *Math Club* meets today and every Tuesday at lunch in H216.
5. Create awesome social justice projects; connect with students who
want to make a difference in the world. Learn leadership, time
management, and mindfulness in the *Compassionate Leaders Club*. The
info sessions are Thursday and Friday this week after school in H106.
*SENIORS:*
1. *College Presentations*: Beginning this week, the College and Career
Center will begin hosting college presentations from college
representatives from all over the country. If you are interested in
attending a presentation, have your teacher sign your College Advisor
Pass ahead of time.

1. *Tutoring* - King Middle School's after school English Language
Learner Tutorial is looking for Spanish bilingual and English-only
tutors who can work from 3:15--4:15 pm on Mondays, Tuesdays and
Thursdays and from 2:15-3:15pm on Wednesdays. This is open to seniors
who are ESPECIALLY good in pre-algebra, algebra and general math and
have no sixth period. Pay is $9.00/hour. Come by the Science Building
Room 7 and speak with Akemi.
