Dear Berkeley Community,
We want to express our gratitude for the tremendous support that we have
received for this annual tradition known as the Holiday Meal. We have
collected over $1500 and have two barrels full of clothing as evidence.
With less than two weeks before the event we are still in search of the
following items:
* Prepared Dishes including, but not limited to potato, pasta, meat,
vegetarian as well as desserts
(pies, cookies, cakes)
.
* Leftover Holiday Canned Goods. Stuffing ingredients, pie filling,
pasta, etc.
* Warm Clothing especially coats and jackets
* Socks
* Toiletries including new toothbrushes, mini toothpaste, deodorant, etc.
Fresh food donations can be delivered between 4:30pm-7pm on Friday,
December 13 or 8 am-12pm of Saturday, December 14 to the main doors of
the school at Milvia and Allston. Please indicate what time you would
like deliver your donation.
**
Volunteers - We do have a few more spaces left for volunteers as well.
*VOLUNTEER INFORMATION*
One of the great aspects of the Holiday Meal is that so many students
get involved through donating food or volunteering at the event. Parent,
staff or student volunteers must be able to commit to the entirety of
one or more of the following shifts:
1. Friday Funsters: 4-8:30pm on December 13
2. Early Birds: 7:30-Noon on December 14
3. Homestretch Heroes: Noon-4:30pm on December 14
Here is what each shift entails
1. Friday Funsters will begin setting up and decorating the Food Court.
They will also start preparing some dishes that can be refrigerated
overnight.
2. Early Birds will continue decorating the space, receive deliveries,
put up signage, entertain guests waiting in line, and prepare more food.
3. Homestretch Heroes will put food on the buffet line, serve the meal
from the line or act as servers and bussers, provide entertainment,
distribute gifts, and clean up.
