ADMINISTRATION

 

1. Senior Portrait Makeup Days - ABC will be in the East Gallery from 2:30
to 8:00 PM on October 24th. Then the 28th through the 30th. Please call ABC
Portraits at 707-297-7304 to schedule an appointment.

 

2. BART Tickets - The Bart tickets for the month of October are here.
Students may pick them up during lunch time only in D224. Remember that you
only have two weeks to pick them up. Thanks!

 

CLUBS

 

*1. Green Team - Do you love your planet? Want to make a difference in your
local community? If so, join Green Team! Meetings every Wednesday after
school in C115!

 

*2. Red Cross Club wants you to come out to the C gallery at lunch on Friday
(10/25) and support them by buying some baked goods!

 

*3. Youth Impact Club is having their first meeting tomorrow, Thursday,
October 24th. The club focuses on environmental and social issues in
Berkeley High and the community. They will meet in Ms. Brewer's room, G103
at lunch! There will be free baked goods! Show up to eat food and improve
your community.

 

*4. Please come out to the C gallery at lunch on 10/28 for an Asian Pacific
Islander Club and Chicano Latino bake sale of donuts and baked goods.

 

*5. Rolando Morales is a teacher at Berkeley High School, he wants to let
everyone know about a new after school club that gives you a unique
opportunity to go and practice Aikido (a Japanese marital art) in a dojo
(martial arts studio) for free. It is the Aikido of Berkeley High after
school Club. They meet on Thursdays at 3:35pm in Room C-134. Then they walk
to the dojo at 3:45pm on 1514 University Ave. (near Sacramento and
University) which is about a 10 minute walk and start class. Then we will
practice, train and play till 5pm. You can wear a gi (Japanese uniform) but
if you don't have one just wear a t-shirt and sweat pants and you'll be
fine. If you have any questions feel free to email
rolandomorales at berkeley.net or come by to the after school club. All are
welcome and no previous experience required. Hope to see you there!

 

SENIORS

 

1. Senior Polls are open! Drop by C237 after school or go to the College
Career Center to fill out a poll sheet. You can also ask Ellis, Franny, or
any other yearbook representative for a sheet. They are due on Friday,
November 1st. Get your friends together to vote for you! Also, yearbooks are
on sale! Like Berkeley High Yearbook on Facebook or go to C327 for more
info.

3rd period: Boston University

4th period: Tulane University

5th period: American University

6th period: Emory University

 

Friday, OCT. 25

11:00 AM: Vassar

4th period: Bowdoin College

5th period: Bryn Mawr College

 

SPORTS

 

*Anyone interested in trying out for Freshman, JV or Varsity soccer come to
the tryout information meeting on Friday, October 25th. Meet on the steps in
front of the Donahue Gym at the beginning of lunch.

 

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

 

*Berkeley Arts Magnet is having a carnival in the fall this year - SUNDAY
OCTOBER 27th, 12-3 PM, and they would love some Berkeley High student
volunteers to help us run some booths (game booths, face painting,
manicures, Dia de los Muertos crafts, and much more). So if you need
volunteer hours, or are just looking for a really fun way to help out in the
community, we would love to have your help. All volunteers must register in
advance with BAM parent Chaghig Walker by emailing minassianwalker at yahoo.com
or 510 882 3726 - please register ASAP if you plan to volunteer because
limited spots are available. All volunteers will be fed a yummy lunch!
