*New to the Bulletin today
ADMINISTRATION
1. SUMMER PE Waivers are due to the attendance office this Friday September
13th. No exceptions!
*2. Students who are on the waiting list for lockers can go to the senior
steps to get their assignment at lunch.
*3. Shout out to Emilee Orton and Makela Garcia who each turned in a lost
cell phone! Way to show the love!!!
SENIORS
1. Seniors ONLY! Free SAT Prep classes will be offered Tuesday and Thursdays
in the College Career Center (D221) from 3:40 to 5:40 PM starting 9/17. Free
ACT Prep classes will be offered Mondays and Wednesdays in the College
Career Center (D221) from 3:40 to 5:40 PM starting 9/17. For more
information go to D221.
*2. SENIORS if you are planning to graduate early (in January) you MUST
submit your "Petition To Graduate Early" form to the Registrar's Office by
September 30th. You can get forms in Counseling and the Registrar's Office.
*3. Grad Trip Information - Registration and deposit is due tomorrow. Get
more information and turn in your registration form with De'Miyah Williams
or the leadership office. You can also register online at
www.USAStudentTravel.com. Keep in mind that this is not a school sponsored
trip and is considered an unexcused absence.
JUNIORS AND SOPHOMORES
*The PSAT is on Saturday October 19th from 8 AM to approximately 11:30. This
is a practice SAT for Sophomores and Juniors. Juniors who score very well
may qualify for National Merit Scholarships and African-American students
who meet the requirements may enter into the National Achievement program.
Sign-ups for juniors will take place every day next week during lunch and
afterschool at the B.O.C (ticket windows for the Donahue Gym). The fee is
$20. Juniors with free or reduced lunch pay $5. Sophomore may sign up the
following week (9/23-9/27). No fee waivers are available for sophomores.
LEADERSHIP
Freshmen class of 2017 - JOIN student leadership to get a look at how BHS
operates. Applications for President, Vice President and other positions are
available in the Leadership office by the cafeteria.
CLUBS
*1. Attention all BHS CHESS PLAYERS and WANNA BE players! Are you interested
in chess and free refreshments? Don't forget about the BHS Chess Club.
Players of all abilities including beginners are welcome every Thursday
after school in Portable 7.
2. Interested in getting your voice heard? Apply to be a Fall columnist for
the Jacket! Pick up an application in C400 or on BHSJacket.com under "Join
Our Staff." Email AshleyAlexander367 at gmail.com if you have any questions!
3. Want to join a unique club at Berkeley High? Then join the Muslim Youth
Club on Fridays in room C106 at lunch. All are welcome!
4. BHS Health Center's peer health education program, SHIFT - (Sexual Health
Information from Teens) - needs new members! As a SHIFT member you'll learn
everything there is to know to educate your peers about healthy
relationships, decision making, and sexual health. Make new friends, earn
class credit, and get paid. Stop by the Health Center to pick up an
application. Applications are due September 20th. Don't miss out on this
amazing opportunity.
5. First meeting for BHS' California Scholarship Federation will be held on
Friday, September 13th at lunch in the CCC. California Scholarship
Federation is a service-based organization that helps raise money to provide
college scholarships to low-income students. Meeting will provide general
info about goals and requirements for the fall semester.
