SAT Word of the Week: Disgruntled - dissatisfied due to a feeling of
injustice.

 

 

SENIORS

 

1. SAVE THE DATE: Wednesday, September 18 at 6:30 pm in the BHS Library.
Senior Parent College Information Night - the how-to's of applying.

 

2. Senior Profile: Was due on September 5th, in the College and Career
Center (D-221). This form is only for students applying to colleges that
require a counselor recommendation. (The UCs and Cal States don't require
recommendations.)

 

3. College Essay Readers Available:  Starting the week of September 9, there
will be a college essay reader in the College/Career Center during lunch. 

 

*College Essay Reader Schedule beginning 9/16/13:

 

Monday: 8:00-10:00 AM, Lunch period, 3:40 PM

Tuesday: 8:00-9:00 AM, Lunch period, 3:40 PM

4. College Advisor's Class Presentations:  Throughout Sep. 9th - 20th, Ms.
Price and Mr. Barton will be conducting class presentations to cover
important aspects of the college application process. Students will all
receive a folder, complete with important information regarding the fall
semester and the college application process.

 

5. Advising Appointments for Seniors:  Sign-up sheets are now available in
the College & Career Center. Seniors may also drop in any day at lunch or
after 6th period without an appointment to have shorter questions answered. 

 

College Advisor assignments:  Ms. Price - BIHS and AC students with last
names L-Z.

Mr. Barton - AHA, AMPS, CAS, GRN and AC students with last names A-K.

 

 

COLLEGE VISITS

 

Many college representatives visit Berkeley High's College and Career Center
every year. Seniors may attend up to 10 of these meetings, with the
permission of the teacher whose class you are missing. Sign up in advance in
the College and Career Center and pick up a permission slip for obtaining
teacher permission.

SAT and ACT registration procedures - Photos required during registration!

 

To produce an honest and fair test-taking environment for all students and
prevent test-taker impersonation, the College Board (for SAT tests) and the
ACT testing agency (for the ACT) will require enhanced security measures for
all students taking the college entrance tests. Students will be required to
submit a current, recognizable head-and-shoulders photo that will be printed
on the new photo admission ticket. For more information, please visit

in advance in the College/Career Center (D221). Students can register before
school, during lunch or after school.

ACT Prep Class - Begins on Monday, September 16 in D220. The class will meet
on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:40 - 5:40 pm. Students must register in

SAT 101:  Our Berkeley High School College and Career Center is proud to
partner with The Princeton Review to provide interested 11th and 12th grade
students with this intense, two-day workshop on the SAT. You'll get the
basics on content, structure, and strategy to be ready for the SAT.

SOPHOMORES AND JUNIORS

 

PSAT REGISTRATION:  Berkeley High School is offering the PSAT on October
19th. Registration for Juniors will take place during the week of September
16-20, and Sophomores can register during the week of September 23-27.
Registration will take place during the lunch period at the box office next
to the Donahue Gym. More information will become available later this week.

FAIR - 13TH ANNUAL HBCU RECRUITMENT FAIR

Students who wish to apply and qualify for "on-the-spot" admissions and
scholarships should bring an official transcript, if available, and a copy
