Below are the Next Steps for Incoming Students Grades 10-12.

1. Students entering grades 10-12 do not sign up for electives and Learning
Community preferences in March. Instead, incoming 10-12th grade students
have a one-to-one meeting with a counselor in April. Belinda McDaniel will
be calling all incoming students grades 10-12 who registered with the
district by Feb. 25 to set up an appointment with a counselor. Expect a
call the week of April 8. If you have not heard from Belinda by April 15,
you may call her at 644-4800.

2. Placement: Honors Math and Language.

a. Students entering grades 10-12 do not have to take the Math Placement
test UNLESS they wish to place in an Honors class. If a student is
interested in an Honors math class they should plan on coming to BHS to take
a placement test on one of the three following days.

New-To-BUSD Math Placement in BHS Library 3 p.m.

Monday, April 8

Monday, April 15

Tuesday, April 23

b. Language Placement.

If an incoming student wishes to enroll in a world language at a level other
than beginning they must take a placement test. The test will be offered on
Saturday, April 20 from 10 to 12 a.m. in Portable 11 (entrance on Milvia).

There is no need to register for either the Honors Math or the Language
Placement test. Just come.

3. Registration is on the following days:

Monday, August 19 9th grade (includes orientation)

Tuesday, August 20 10th Grade

Wednesday, August 21 11th Grade

Thursday, August 22 12th Grade

Friday, August 23 Makeup

New students of all grades are encouraged to attend the Monday August 19
Orientation. It will include an introduction by administrators, student-run
school tours, and an Activity Fair.

During Registration students pick up their schedule, textbooks, locker
assignments, and have their picture ID taken. Schedules are prepared the
night before for each class so a sophomore, for instance, cannot pick up
their schedule on Monday though it would be a good idea if they attended
orientation on that day. Generally there are no lockers available during the
Friday, Makeup session.

4. The first day of classes is Wednesday, August 28.
