Math Placement at Berkeley High will be determined by teacher
recommendation, grades in current math class, and a math placement test.
1. All incoming 9th students must take a general placement test. In
addition all students who are interested in enrolling in an Honors math
level will take an additional Honors math test.
a. The test will be offered for current BUSD middle school students at
their school site on the following days:
Longfellow, April 9
Willard, April 11
King, April 16
b. New-to-BUSD students will take the general test and, if desired, the
Honors test in the Berkeley High School library at 3 p.m.
April 8,
April 15, or
April 23
2. We are requesting that all current 8th grade math teachers submit a
placement recommendation for their students. King Willard, and Longfellow
students do not have to request that their teacher fill out a questionnaire.
This will be done automatically. New-to-BUSD students should request that
their current math teacher fill in a short online questionnaire by going to:

3. Content on the Math Placement test: The algebra content covered by the
placement test is the California content standards for Algebra 1 which can
be found online at: http://www.cde.ca.gov/ta/tg/sr/documents/rtqalg1.pdf
