Sat. Jan. 12th 10am-Noon * PCAD meets at BHS re: SCHOOL CHOICES, COURSES &
AFRICAN AMERICAN STUDIES DEPT.

PARENTS OF CHILDREN OF AFRICAN DESCENT (PCAD) holds our first 2013 meeting
this Saturday from 10:00 am to Noon at the BHS College/Career Center. PCAD
will present information about BERKELEY HIGH SCHOOL CHOICES, and the unique
AFRICAN AMERICAN STUDIES DEPARTMENT at BHS.

(Please note this is a new PCAD meeting location.)

All high school and 8th grade middle school families and students are
invited to come hear presentations at PCAD's meeting about the different
academic choices available at BHS in the 2 large and 4 small schools. The
presentations will also focus on BHS course offerings for next year -- and
especially the little- known excellent courses offered through BHS' AFRICAN
AMERICAN STUDIES DEPARTMENT.

BHS Vice-Principal Vernon Walton will discuss school choice and course
enrollment options starting shortly after 10:00 am. African American
Studies Dept. parent liaison Laura Babitt and others will talk about the
department's academic courses.

Come hear also about the Black Student Union (BSU); PCAD's upcoming special
event and meetings; and various workshops of special interest to BHS' PCAD
families. Refreshments will be served.

The BHS College/Career Center is located in the main BHS Administration
Building at the southwest corner of Milvia and Allston Streets. Enter the
main door at 1980 Allston Way, walk straight ahead, and take the staircase
up to the 2nd floor. Wheelchair access is via the elevator across from
stairs.

Remember - this is a new location for the PCAD meeting.
