The Berkeley High School Jazz association would like to let you know about an upcoming concert featuring the BUSD middle school jazz programs (our incoming talent), with BHS Jazz alum, Hitomi Oba, as special guest.

The concert will be Wednesday, December 5th - 7:30 p.m.: Berkeley Middle School Jazz at The Freight and Salvage, 2020 Addison St. in Berkeley, and will benefit the BUSD's Jazz Program.

Featuring: performances by the jazz bands at Willard (Roland Brown, Director), King (Nancy Boyles, Director), and Longfellow (Megan Ratliff, Director). Joining the bands will be noted jazz performers and Oaktown Jazz Workshop faculty members: Ravi Abcarian, Bass; and Richard Howell, Saxophone, as well as professional saxophonist, Hitomi Oba, King and BHS alum. Doors open at 7:00pm and the concert starts at 7:30.

The proceeds of this benefit concert help pay for instruments, music, guest artists, and coaching for our young jazz musicians. Our growing middle school jazz program gives students the chance to participate in performances, clinics, and exciting educational opportunities. Tickets can be purchased through the Freight and Salvage website (http://www.thefreight.org/) or at the box office (510-644-2020, x120). Admission is $20.50 in advance or $22.50 at the door. See the Freight and Salvage website for senior and youth discounts.

Come see the future of Berkeley Jazz December 5!

Thank you!
