BHS JAZZ BENEFIT CONCERT
Tonight, Thursday, May 24 at Ashkenaz, BHS Jazz Cuba Benefit Concert.
The BHS Jazz Ensemble is heading to Cuba!
Headlining the concert is Mingus Amungus, a funky jazz/hip-hop aggregation that includes several Berkeley High Jazz alumni. KCSM radios’s Chuy Varela will serve as M.C. Also on the bill is a new band, the James Smalls Funk Experience, led by another dynamic Berkeley High School alumnus.It's going to be an incredible concert full of latin music, funk, soul, and dancing.
The show will feature three BHS Jazz Ensemble combos representing the cream of Berkeley High’s current jazz crop, including the winner of the Monterey Next Generation Festival. Special guest musicians will sit in with the accomplished student combos. Proceeds from the concert will guarantee that no student is left behind when the Ensemble departs for Cuba on June 23rd.
