This Friday, 5/18, is our eighth and final advisory meeting of the year.
In their advisory sessions, ninth graders will be working on a graduation
pathway plan, including A-G requirements for the UC/CSU system.  Sophomores
will be discussing information about the SAT and ACT, as well as comparing
question types from the CAHSEE, the SAT, and the ACT.  Juniors will learn
about the factors college admissions officials use when reviewing
applications and will role play members of an admissions panel reviewing
information on mock applicants. (If you are the parent of a junior, please
note that the SAT late registration deadline is 5/22 and the ACT late
registration deadline is 5/18 for the last tests of the year.)  Finally,
seniors will be discussing their expectations about, as well as the myths
and realities of college life.  

For students in grades 9-11, advisors will be conducting an informal poll
with their students to determine whether any of their students will not be
returning to BHS next year.  The purpose of this poll will be to help us
streamline the scheduling/course request process for next year.  Please, if
you have not already done so, notify us as soon as possible if your child
will not be returning to BHS next year.

Please take some time to discuss this week's advisory topic with your child.

your input around any specific advisory activities that you or your child
found particularly helpful or worthwhile (as well as those that need

Este viernes, 5/18, es nuestra octava y última reunión consultiva del año.
En sus sesiones de asesoramiento, del noveno grado estará trabajando en un
plan para la graduación, incluyendo los requisitos de la A-G para el sistema
de Universidades UC/CSU. Los estudiantes del 10mo grado hablaran acerca de
la información de los exámenes de SAT y ACT, así como comparar tipos de
preguntas del CAHSEE, SAT, y ACT. Juniors aprenderán acerca de la admisión a
la universidad los factores que funcionarios utilizar al momento de revisar
las solicitudes y van a tomar el papel ficticio como miembro de un grupo de
admisiones que revisan la información sobre los postulantes. (Si usted es un
padre de un hijo en el onceavo grado, por favor tenga en cuenta que la fecha
límite para la inscripción tarde al SAT es 22 de mayo  y de la fecha límite
para la inscripción tarde al examen del ACT es el 18 de mayo para la última
prueba del año.) Por último, los estudiantes del doceavo grado estarán
discutiendo sus expectativas, así como los mitos y realidades de la vida
universitaria.

Para los estudiantes en los grados 9-11, los asesores llevarán a cabo una
encuesta informal con sus estudiantes para determinar si alguno de sus
estudiantes no volveremos a Berkeley High School el próximo año. El
propósito de esta encuesta se utilizará para  programar las clases para el
próximo año. Por favor, si aún no lo han hecho, notifique a la escuela tan
pronto como sea posible si su niño no volveremos a BHS próximo año.

Por favor, tómese algún tiempo para debatir el tema consultivo de la semana
con su hijo. Como siempre, agradecemos sus comentarios, y me gustaría
especialmente invitar a sus comentarios en torno a cualquier día de
asesoramiento que usted o su niño a encontrado particularmente útil o
