On Tuesday, April 10 and Wednesday, April 18 the BHS Math Department will be
offering an honors test after school for current 9th-11th grade BHS students
who want to take Honors Math next school year. (Note: This does not apply to
students currently enrolled in Honors Math at BHS, who need at least a "B"
to move to the next level in Honors Math).
Students MUST sign up for the test before arriving on the day. Students may
begin signing up for the test in H113 starting next Monday, March 19.
Students need to come prepared with a scientific calculator (NOT a graphing
calculator) and pencil. Testing rooms will be determined closer to the
Honors testing dates and will be posted on H113.
The tests will be after school April 10 and April 18, beginning at 3:45 and
going until about 4:45 or 5:00. The Honors Algebra 2 test will cover CA
content standards from Algebra 1 as well as Geometry. A list of these
standards as well as some practice problems can be found online at the CDE
website.
Algebra 1: http://www.cde.ca.gov/ta/tg/sr/documents/rtqalg1.pdf
Geometry: http://www.cde.ca.gov/ta/tg/sr/documents/cstrtqgeomapr15.pdf
There are no additional materials we provide or suggest since this is a
placement exam. The content covered in "Regular Geometry" is all that is
needed to score into Honors Algebra 2. Information on the test does not
require that students have taken Honors Geometry. Students must have enough
facility and speed with Algebra 1 and Geometry content but all standards
have been taught in our middle school and high school courses.
