Dear Parents and other BHS Community Members,

Next week is Spirit Week where students dress up each day and there are fun activities happening on campus.  To bring some added meaning and values to the events there are two competitions involving attendance and service we want to tell you about.  There are also Spirit Items for sale during the week.  

The two competitions are called the "Attendance Cup" and the "Service Cup".  The class (grade level) with the best average attendance between now and next Thursday wins the Attendance Cup.  The class with the most toys, books, jackets, canned food, and shoes donated between now and next Thursday wins the Service Cup.

So please encourage your student to be in class and on time, and participate in helping the local homeless and hungry by donating some of the above items.  These donations will partly to the Boys and Girls Club and partly to the individuals and families we will serve at this year's Holiday Meal on December 10.  

Finally, about spirit items for sale this coming week: 

Spirit Week is an exciting time for the students and staff of Berkeley High School.  For Rally Day, which is Friday October 28, there will be a very high percentage of students dressed in red and gold, the school colors.  It's quite a sight to see.  

Wanting to participate, many students will be requesting some help to buy spirit items.  Please know that the sales are CASH ONLY and there are no refunds.  

Here are the official prices (a few changes from the paper flyer your student may have brought home):

Any Class:
o   Super slick student-designed BHS Spirit t-shirt - $15 (image of the shirt available upon request)
o   Solid Red or Gold socks, or one of each color - $8
o   Rally towel - $2
o   Yellow jacket temporary tattoo – $1, 4 for $3.50
o   Pom-pom – 1 for $2, 2 for $3.50!!
o   Old School BHS hats - $5

Senior Spirit Items:
o   Exclusive student-designed senior tank top -  $15 (image of the shirt available upon request, only 100 in stock)
o   Striped red and gold socks - $10
o   Class of 2012 sunglasses - $5
o   Buy ‘em all at once (SPIRIT PACK) - $28 – save $2!!
