The College Application Handbook Committee is a group of Berkeley High
parents and graduates with expertise or experience in the college
application process. Each year the committee works with the college
advisors to produce three guides for parents:

*	a comprehensive College Application Handbook for Parents and
Families of Seniors,
*	a comprehensive College Information Guide for Parents and Families
of Juniors, and
*	an Introduction to College Planning pamphlet for Sophomores and
their families

This is the 12th year of this handbook series. The materials are packed
with wisdom and timely guidance from the college advisors, college
admissions experts and parents who have been through the college
applications process with their students. The Berkeley High School
Development Group graciously funds the publication and mailing costs for
these guides.

The approximate schedule for publication of these guidebooks is as
follows:

Mid-August: Senior handbooks were mailed to the registered addresses of
incoming BHS seniors (if you have not received your copy, please see it
online at

-12%2520FinalStandAlone.pdf> , or your child may stop by the
College/Career Center to ask Angela Price for the booklet.)

October: A copy of the updated Junior guide will be online at the above
link for junior parents who want to read this information early in the
school year (you may get a preview of last year's on the site now). Junior
College Guides will not be mailed home until January 2012.

November: Sophomore college planning pamphlet will be mailed home, and
will be online at the above link (you may get a preview of last year's on
the site now).

January 2012: Junior guides will be mailed home to all registered
juniors.

If you would like to volunteer with this committee, please contact Frances
Cohen at frances.cohen at ucsf.edu. You do not need to be experienced in
this field. The committee is eager to have new parents join us. We need
parents who know Berkeley High School, and what students and parents want
to know about how to apply to college. In addition, the committee could
especially use support from people who are good at formatting final
documents.
